Some years ago, Saskia was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. After numerous treatments, trial medicines, lots of pain and lowered energy, there is nothing more that can be done. While going through this difficult period, Saskia decided to use the time she has to give something back to women. She founded the Orange Dragon foundation which focuses on research for improved treatment of ovarian cancer. This is how Saskia hopes to increase women’s chances to fight this type of cancer. Another important cause for Saskia is social justice as she would like to make ovarian cancer treatment available for women in the whole world, also in the less developed countries where medicine is not always easily accessible to those who need it most.

Saskia has now entered her final journey in life and she wants to make this journey a special one. She combines her passion of travelling with bringing social justice to women and raising money for her foundation. She has it all planned out and not even Covid-19 is going to stop her. She will start a travelling experience, driving in her orange Toyota, accompanied by her dog and she will document the whole journey. During her trip she will focus on 4 themes:

• Strong women

• Sustainability

• Social justice

• World music

Her journey starts in January and she will arrange for places to sleep through her network or other people willing to help. She will offer whoever is interested the chance to travel alongside her and she will document her special stories in her daily Vlog. All this will be for the benefit of raising money to help other women fight ovarian cancer.

Saskia will be our special speaker in our Ask Me Anything series on March 15, 2021. By then, Saskia will have already started her journey and she will share her incredible story with us. We’ll hear about her positive strong spirit, her energy, but also about her lows, and how she gets things done with the help of others.
